Abstract: |
Summary of excavations by the Aberdeen Archaeological Unit at 42 St Paul Street. Four 13th century property boundaries, initially defined by ditches and later by wattle fences, were revealed. In early 14th these boundaries were altered to create properties with more regular widths of between 5.5m and 6m. Near-complete ground plans of two 13th century post-and-wattle buildings and of a 16th century stone building were recovered. Small finds included pottery (from France, the Low Countries and Scarborough), a wooden weaving sword and an oak paddle. I A G S |
