Abstract: |
NN 7023. Limited excavations revealed evidence for two main phases of fort-building: 1, a dun-like structure with nailed timber-laced wall 14C-dated after AD 650 and timber buildings on a terrace below; 2, after destruction by fire of the dun the summit was refortified with drystone rampart and massive defences added to the lower terraces. Finds, consistent with aristocratic occupation in Pictish times, included a decorated leather shoe, a base silver belt fastener, and decorated glass dome. Au(abr) |
