Survey of an upland area some 46,000 ha in extent has revealed many unrecorded structures and even some new types. An introductory account is followed by an inventory of the various types of cairns and barrows, cists, standing stones and stone circles, cup-and-ring marks, a fort, open settlements, burnt mounds, a souterrain, ring ditches, ecclesiastical monuments, castles and towerhouses, med earthworks, deer parks, med burghs, and med and later settlements. |
