Abstract: |
The evaluation consisted of an 'L-shaped' trench mechanically excavated, in advance of a proposed new parsonage. The evaluation followed on from previous excavations of the site and revealed four phases of archaeology, two of which were medieval and post-medieval. Features included: ditches, post holes, pits, a well, a possible enclosure and a small assemblage of 12th to 14th century pottery. These features represented the back plots of enclosed areas which may have fronted onto the High Street. [AIP] |
