Abstract: |
Two features of 18th century date were exposed in trenches in an area of what would have been the backlands of the 18th century Polygon House: a large brick-lined feature with a truncated domed top; possibly a 'cesspool', in close proximity to a brick-lined well/soakaway. Observations in areas to the north of the buildings, formerly the gardens of Polygon House and adjoining plots, revealed no evidence of land use prior to the post-medieval period. No artefacts predating the 18th century were recovered. [Au(abr)] |
