Abstract: |
A desk based assessment of the proposed site of a motorway service area identified that no archaeological remains had been recorded within the site. Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts had been found in the surrounding area, whilst a possible Roman villa lay within 2.5km of the site. A potential medieval moated house lay 700m to the north. It was concluded that the site had a low archaeological potential, and it was recommended that an evaluation programme should be considered. [AIP] |
