Abstract: |
Prince George's curtain wall was constructed in a series of lifts between 1665-7 using local limestone and granite. None of the primary embrasures survived unaltered, all having been rearranged during the mid 18th century. The parapet was widened from 6 ft to 15ft and new embrasures with massive outer splays were constructed. The 'grand refurbishment' at the end of the 19th century had very little impact on Prince George's curtain. [Au(abr)] |
