Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the installation of a new drainage system for a church with medieval origins. Post-medieval soil horizons and a Victorian grave were observed, and it was noted that the foundations of the church walls had been built on bedrock. No human remains were observed within the grave, which was only partly excavated; disarticulated bone was, however, found at the east side of the church. Fragments of glass and tile and an iron spike, probably dating from no earlier than the 19th century, were recovered. [AIP] |
