Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was conducted whilst engineering works were undertaken beneath the bridge structure. The pier bases of the 16th century double arched bridge were found in the river bed. Due to the possibility of earlier material surviving at a deeper level it was suggested that any further work carried out within the river bed or the environs of the bridge should be monitored by an archaeological representative.[AIP] |
