Abstract: |
The study area lay within a part of Bristol that was extensively farmed during the Roman period, and may have seen earlier occupation. Athough no evidence for earlier than the 1840 tithe apportionment was found for the site, evidence from the neighbouring areas had found that field boundaries changed little after their initial enclosure, probably in the 18th century. The lack of documented archaeological discoveries could not preclude the presence of significant remains and a watching brief was recommended during development. [AIP] |
