Abstract:
An earlier evaluation (1986) on the site had found evidence of medieval and later occupation in the form of pits, possible property boundaries and beam slots. The northern part of the site had been much disturbed, destroyed and contaminated by a garage as well as the two large 1986 excavations. Added to this, the excavation of a sewer trench and other recent intrusions meant that little archaeology would have survived. Further archaeological evaluation was recommended. [Au(adp)]
