Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken of the site prior to the proposed erection of a 4/5-storey building with a new extension to the front roof. The most likely periods of archaeological significance were Roman, medieval and post-medieval on the basis of local finds. The position of the site, to the north of the medieval nunnery of Holywell Priory founded in the 12th century may also have been significant. [Au(abr)] |
