Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken of the proposed development site at Tewin Water School and its immediate vicinity. The assessment revealed that beyond the 18th century Tewin Water House, no known archaeological features had been discovered within the perimeter of the proposed development. However, the house itself had developed considerably from possible medieval origins, together with the establishment of outbuildings. Landscape garden features associated with the 18th century landscape architect Humphry Repton, and later features such as greenhouses added by successive owners of the house in the 19th century were also suggested.
