Abstract: |
Documentary evidence has showed that the slipway was originally constructed in c.1870. The excavations for the new slipway exposed no archaeological features, finds or buried surfaces. An area of fine stone cobbling represented the survival of part of an earlier slipway surface, presumably of 19th century date, possibly functioning as a walkway along the southern edge of the slipways.
