Abstract: |
Two trenches were excavated to evaluate land proposed for house construction in an area possibly comprising part of the original Saxon settlement of Marlborough. A scatter of pits as well as a linear feature, and a circular clay-lined feature, were revealed, although none of these dated to the Saxon period, and were most likely to represent medieval and post-medieval refuse pits and wells.
