Abstract: |
A photographic survey of Turk Cottages and Florence Cottages was undertaken since they were due to be demolished to make way for the inner relief road. A watching brief was also maintained at all areas of ground disturbance, including groundworks and earthmoving, within the road construction programme on the line of the road. Although the level of archaeological activity was generally low the watching brief recovered some medieval evidence. Post-medieval activity was far better represented. A large number of deer bone and cattle horn cores were found suggesting a tannery site and possibly horn working. [Au] |
