Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the replacement of a 3" cast iron water main. For most of its length the pipe ran close to the projected line of Hadrian's Wall. The majority of the trenches avoided archaeologically sensitive deposits. However, three trenches to the east of Leahill Farm exposed in situ wall foundations, and further remains were also recorded at Coombe Crag farm, where the line of the pipe crossed from the south to north road verge.
