Abstract: |
<summary>The watching brief determined that the area had not been built over during the Roman period, and had probably been pasture. Later on, the area was used for the dumping of building materials and garden soil for levelling and the backfilling of the ditch. There seemed to have been two periods of dumping. In the late Medieval or early Post-Medieval period this area was open ground behind the properties and was used for the disposal of rubbish. |
