Abstract: |
The documentary assesment and field evaluation (total of 25 trenches and test pits) identified various archaeological features from various periods. 86% of the development area lay within the Roman and medieval city walls and 14% outside the walls in a zone containing early defensive ditches (all within the Exeter AAI). It was concluded that significant remains from all these periods would be present and a suitable mitigation strategy would have to be implemented should development continue. [AIP] |
