Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. Mesolithic and neolithic artefacts, a bronze age cooking pit and iron age settlement evidence had been recorded in the surrounding area. A probable Roman revetment, boundary ditches and 11th-12th century pits had been found, whilst post-medieval tanning pits and channels had been discovered at several nearby sites. Potential archaeological deposits had been observed in geotechnical test-pits at the site itself. It was concluded that an evaluation would be necessary. [AIP] |
