Abstract: |
A desk-based study was undertaken to assess the archaeological impact and constraints of the proposed refurbishment of Nos. 158, 160 and 62 Derby Road, the demolition of 154 and 156 Derby road, and the development of the car parking area to the rear and adjacent to Ilkeston Road. No archaeological remains were identified within the proposal area and historical searches showed that the area developed as a new suburb in the 19th century. The presence of sandstone below the study area however indicated the possibility of caves being located within the proposed development. [AIP] |
