Abstract: |
There was high potential for buried archaeological remains as the site incorporated a moat which is a Scheduled Monument. A shallow pathway 0.15 to 0.2m in depth was excavated in a circular route to the west of the Moat revealing mid grey-brown topsoil on top of grey-brown silty loam subsoil. No archaeological features were observed. Foundations for a site access bridge and gates were also excavated revealing dark brown silty loam above the natural substrate of orange-brown silty clay. No archaeological features or deposits were recorded. [Au(adp)] |
