Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks for the erection of a telecommunications mast on the summit of Meon Hill. A metal detector survey preceded excavation An Iron Age settlement was discovered in 1924 by aerial photography. The site had previously been investigated by D.M and F.M. Liddell c.1933 and the settlement located. During the 1993 excavations a ditch was located which appeared to be the La Tene II ditch discovered in the earlier excavations. [AIP] |
