Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a quarry extension. A ring cairn, a post-medieval lime kiln and a quarry face, also probably post-medieval, had previously been recorded at the site. A large number of prehistoric monuments, including stone circles and burial cairns, lay in the surrounding area. During the evaluation, it was found that extensive animal disturbance had occurred over much of the site. Seventeen pieces of chert were found, of which three may have been worked. It was concluded that a watching brief should be carried out during topsoil stripping. [Au(adp)] |
