Abstract: |
The site lay immediately beside and to the east of the eastern earthen rampart of the scheduled East Hill Iron Age hillfort/promontory settlement. Two trial trenches, totalling c. 12 metres in length, were mechanically excavated. No trace of a surviving defensive ditch was found and no other archaeological features identified. However, a small quantity of worked flint was recovered that was perhaps associated with the occupation of the hillfort. [Au(abr)] |
