Abstract: |
A watching brief during demolition of structures on the site was followed by an open area excavation. Many Mesolithic finds were recovered during the watching brief and the subsequent excavation revealed an intact Mesolithic occupation horizon which included discrete scatters of Early Mesolithic worked flint and butchered animal bone, as well as burnt flint, burnt worked flint, burnt bone and burnt plant remains. The range and preservation of the artefactual assemblage, with very little post-depositional disturbance, made the findings of national archaeological importance. [Au(abr)] |
