Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out along the corridor of a proposed relief road, parts of which ran close to three archaeological priority zones. Finds and features dating from the Mesolithic to the Saxon period had been recorded in the vicinity. Struck flints were found during field-walking as part of the evaluation. Seven trenches were excavated, and a single prehistoric sherd was recovered. Arched foundation brickwork which had been part of the demolished Coulsdon North Station was located. It was concluded that a watching brief should be carried out. [AIP] |
