Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken within the site which was situated just south of the centre of the village. A medieval pond was recorded within the assessment area. In the vicinity of the site there was only one find of prehistoric date. In addition there was a small amount of occupation evidence from the Iron Age and extensive evidence of small Roman occupation sites in the form of soilmarks. The village itself was documented in the 10th century and continued through the medieval and post-medieval periods as a largely unchanged settlement devoted to agricultural activities. [Au] |
