Abstract: |
<summary>An excavation was undertaken following an evaluation. The excavation produced evidence for medieval activity on the site, probably between the 13th to mid 14th century. Thereafter, the structures were demolished and the area remained open ground until the 19th century. Levels were raised through the tipping of refuse. Plant remains included vetch; this was particularly significant as it was not thought to have grown outside of South-East England before 1350, and the hearth with which it was associated produced an archaeomagnetic date of 1260-1340 AD. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
