Abstract: |
The watching brief comprised the observation and recording of seven trial pits, four boreholes and three cone penetration test pits. Dating material from a trial pit in this area suggested that it was located over either a quarry/pit of 17th-19th century date, or that residual artefacts were included in the backfill of a trench dug while clearing the site of human burials prior to the construction of the library. Fragmentary bone, which may be human, was found indicating at least the possibility that undisturbed burials lay within the study area. [Au(abr)] |
