Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of the proposed site of an industrial development was undertaken. Evidence for extensive former settlement dating from the Neolithic period onwards had been recorded in the surrounding area. A Neolithic causewayed enclosure, Late Bronze Age remains and features associated with the possible site of a Saxon settlement could all potentially extend onto the site. A Grade II Listed Building dating from the 15th century or earlier, a WWII pillbox and an anti-tank ditch lay within the development area. A brief for an evaluation of the site, provided by the County Council, was appended to the assessment report. [Au(abr)] |
