Abstract: |
Excavations at Known Archaeology Area 29 confirmed the presence of a sequence of post-medieval industrial activities comprising the remains of possible clamp-kiln bases and localised small-scale coal mining, succeeded and disturbed by 20th century mining activity. The effects of the mining disturbance, combined with the paucity of finds from the site, meant that the archaeological potential and regional significance of the site was low. However, the excavations did identify previously unrecorded industrial activity in the area. [Au] |
