Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a garden wall in order to comply with SAM consent. It was probably that wall foundation 103 represented the south-west continuation of a garden wall identified on Christian's map of 1852. It was clear from later maps that the wall was demolished in advance of the construction of the new Number 4. No further deposits of archaeological significance were encountered, although it was highly likely that such remains may have lain at a greater depth, beneath the level reached in the foundation trench.
