Abstract:		 Four trial trenches were excavated within the proposed development site. Various structural remains and services associated with the post-medieval farm were recorded, as well as a recent pits including a pet burial. A large circular pit, surrounded by a wattle and daub fence line was excavated, dating from the medieval period. Macrofossil analysis on plant remains from layers within this pit, highlighted the importance of arable farming in Ryhope during the medieval period. [Au(abr)]
