Abstract: |
Evaluation trenches excavated on a site proposed new car showrooms and workshops revealed ditches, gullies and soil layers of 13th-14th century date lying on natural sands and gravels, sealed by later medieval and post-medieval layers. A series of timber structures, possibly minor water course revetments, were revealed on the south-western periphery of the site adjacent to a relic channel of the River Leen recorded on 19th century maps and plans. These were undated but were sealed by post-medieval deposits. [Auth words] |
