Abstract: |
Excavation in advance of a housing development revealed archaeological features and deposits representing a number of periods of settlement and activity. Evidence of prehistoric activity comprised two Bronze Age pits, a post-built roundhouse, a group of intercutting pits and two parallel ditches of Late Iron Age date. A number of phases of activity of Romano-British date were identified represented by ditches, a building, pits and cremation burials. Activity continued into the late Roman/Saxon period and Saxon pottery was recovered. Evidence for post-medieval ploughing was also identified. [Au(adp)] |
