Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for an access road, which passed through an area containing a Bronze Age barrow cemetery. During the watching brief, post-medieval ploughsoils and the base of a drystone wall which was probably a field boundary were observed, and a small pit of indeterminate date was recorded. It was demonstrated that three 1930s water mains crossed the access road. The line of the pipes suggested that they had been cut through the side of the largest barrow. [Au(adp)] |
