Abstract: |
The site lay close to the position of recorded bomb damage that occured during Second World War, and the earliest deposit encountered (a spread of mortar and brick) appeared to be the demolition layer asscoiated with clearance during the war. No earlier features or archaeological deposits were observed during the groundworks and with the exception of a single sherd of 16th- or 17th-century pottery, all the finds were of 19th-century or modern date.[Au(abr)] |
