Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a site proposed for tipping of driveway waste identified that the proposal area consisted of an area of scowles (irregular pits and trenches representing the remains of early opencast iron ore extraction). This area of scowles, although undated, represented part of a belt of similar features having a date range from the Roman period until at least the 17th century. [AIP] |
