Abstract:		 There was little evidence to suggest any significant prehistoric, Roman or Anglo-Saxon settlement remains in the vicinity of the site. However, documentary and cartographic evidence suggested that the site was occupied by several farm buildings and a large house during the medieval and post-medieval periods. There was a strong possibility of the survival of archaeological remains from this period on the site. [Au(abr)]
