Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site which lay close to the medieval centre of High Wycombe. The area had belonged to the Convent of Godstow, and may once have been occupied by farm buildings. Medieval pottery had been found at a nearby site. During the evaluation, a small pit containing medieval pottery was recorded. Several post-medieval features associated with demolished Victorian buildings were also revealed, including a soakaway, a cellar, a drainage ditch and two post holes which probably represented a fence between nos. 41 and 43 Castle Street.
