Abstract:
A watching brief was undertaken at the site of the Serpentine Gallery during the groundworks (including the excavation of a new basement beneath the present building) which were carried out as part of a general refurbishment of the building and to record any archaeological remains revealed by the works. The archaeological deposits encountered consisted of a 1m depth of levelling dumps over natural brickearth. No other archaeological features were encountered. [Au(adp)]
