Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken at the site. Tree throws dating to the Late Mesolithic/Early Neolithic were identified. A Bronze Age droveway was identified, which cut earlier pits. The droveway was comprised of a series of re-cut ditches, with remnants of associated banks. Ditches connected with droveway at right angles, possibly forming paddocks. Late Bronze Age pits, a round house and metalled surfaces cut the droveway. The edge of the Iron Age and Romano-British settlements identified at Cat's Water to the Northeast of the site, continued into the Elliot's site. [Au(adp)] |
