Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed residential development site which lay within an area of prehistoric and Romano-British activity. Cropmarks had been recorded within the proposal area and immediately to the east, and an Iron Age/Romano-British settlement site lay to the south. Palaeolithic handaxes and a Neolithic/Bronze Age flint had also been found in the vicinity. During the evaluation, thirty eight trial trenches were excavated, all of which appeared to be archaeologically sterile. The few potential features examined all appeared to have been of modern or natural origin. [AIP] |
