Abstract: |
The gardens to the rear of Duke's Cottage were subject to a proposal for housing development. An archaeological assessment had indicated that Duke's Cottages lay in the vicinity of the site of a medieval manor and chapel. Two trial trenches were excavated. Both revealed a soil layer containing a little medieval pottery while one trench produced a shallow gully, possibly an old field boundary. No significant concentrations of finds were recovered. No further archaeological work was recommended as a result of the evaluation. [Au(abr)] |
