Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks associated with the installation of an underground electricity cable. The route traversed an area containing prehistoric, Romano-British and medieval remains. During the course of the investigation a sequence of topsoil, subsoil and natural geological deposits were identified. A crushed stone track of recent date was the only archaeological feature encountered. A prehistoric flint tool, probably a scraper, and a sherd of Romano-British pottery were recovered from the topsoil deposits along the north-east Lincolnshire section of the route. A fragment of ceramic building material of later post-medieval date was also recovered from the topsoil on the Lincolnshire section. [Au(abr)] |
