Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken to identify the nature and extent of the recorded archaeological resource within both the site and its immediate environs. There was no direct evidence for activity on the site before the 19th century. There were 19th century terraced houses on the site, but were demolished in the 20th century when commercial and industrial buildings were constructed. It was possible that the site could have contained archaeological deposits associated with the known nearby Late Iron Age/Early Romano-British settlement site. There was also a boundary wall in situ which was originally constructed in the 19th century when the site was divided into plots. [AIP] |
