Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of access pits along the route of a replacement water main, which was laid using a thrust-bore technique rather than the more intrusive open cut method. The route passed close to earthworks and cropmarks showing former settlement remains, and also passed the earthwork site of Heydour Castle, a SAM. No significant archaeological artefacts were recovered during the watching brief. However, a rubble deposit within one pit was tentatively identified as part of the collapsed outer earthworks of Heydour Castle. [AIP] |
