Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for the construction of a covered silage store, immediately to the east of a moated medieval site which was unusual in that it featured a double moat, one of only two in Lancashire. Possible evidence of medieval cultivation activity lay to the north-west of the site, in the form of lynchets and the remains of ridge and furrow. During the watching brief, no evidence of a continuation of the moat was recorded, and only recent material was observed. [Au(adp)] |
