Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of a single trial trench excavated within the churchyard of St. John the Baptist, Middleton, revealed no evidence of the medieval manor site. Three undated field boundary ditches were identified, which probably defined the extent of the medieval field system. Two sherds of medieval pottery and several fragments of 18th and 19th century pottery were found within a layer above these features. [Au] |
